illustrator
A graduate of the Montpellier Conservatoire in piano, composition, scholarship and chamber music, Pierre Créac’h took a turn and continued his studies at the Julian/Penninghen academy (École Supérieure d’Arts Graphiques de Paris), graduating in 2007 with a Master’s degree in art direction, where he now teaches.
Alongside his work as a freelance illustrator and composer, he combines his talents to write illustrated musical tales for children and adults.
In 2007, he wrote his first explosive book-disc: Le Silence de l’Opéra, a musical tale told by the late Jean Rochefort (Sarbacane). In 2014 he published Le château des pianos, read by Pierre Arditi. This second book has now been adapted into a musical with drawings. His third album, Le fantôme de Carmen, is read by the irreplaceable Yolande Moreau.
His three book-discs have been very well received by the public and the press. They have won a number of awards: the Grand Prix du Disque Jeunesse Charles Cros 2008 for the first and a double award for the second: Prix du Livre-Disque Jeunesse la Plume de Paon 2015 and Grand Prix la Plume d’Or 2015.
Pierre Créac’h regularly meets with primary and secondary school classes, in France and abroad, to talk about his profession and, through creative workshops, to develop a sense of musical listening, light drawing and storytelling.
His originals have been exhibited in France, Europe and as far afield as Seoul in South Korea. His limited edition lithographic prints, numbered and signed, in the tradition of the Maeght gallery artists, have led to numerous exhibitions in France.
