“Everywhere and for everyone in Île-de-France” – this is the motto of the Orchestre national d’Île-de-France, which brings the symphonic repertoire to life across the region, making it accessible to all.
Based at the Philharmonie de Paris, the Orchestra is made up of 95 permanent musicians and gives around a hundred concerts each season throughout the Île-de-France area, offering its audiences a rich repertoire spanning four centuries of music.
Driven by an ambitious and inclusive artistic vision, the Orchestra regularly collaborates with artists from a wide range of backgrounds. It champions and supports contemporary creation by hosting composers-in-residence such as Anna Clyne, Dai Fujikura, and Guillaume Connesson, who are commissioned to create symphonic works, operatic productions, and musical tales that enhance its repertoire.
Case Scaglione was appointed Music Director and Principal Conductor in 2019. Following a highly successful artistic partnership, his tenure has been extended through to August 2026. A passionate advocate for the Orchestra’s mission, this brilliant and energetic young conductor takes great pleasure in sharing his love for both the symphonic and operatic repertoires.
A cultural institution deeply committed to its civic role, the Orchestra develops imaginative educational initiatives that place children at the heart of its pedagogical approach – notably through participatory concerts and musical shows designed for the whole family.
The Orchestra also pursues a dynamic audiovisual strategy and has a state-of-the-art recording studio located just outside Paris. It records for Nomadmusic and other renowned labels, such as Deutsche Grammophon and Sony Classical.
The Orchestre national d’Île-de-France is also a regular guest at prestigious festivals in France and abroad.
Founded in 1974, the Orchestre national d’Île-de-France is funded by the Île-de-France Regional Council and the French Ministry of Culture.
The Orchestra regularly performs at the Festival de Saint-Denis, including appearances in 2022 with MC Solaar, in 2023 with Gregory Porter under the baton of Fiona Monbet, and in 2024 with Souad Massi conducted by Fayçal Karoui.
