Marta Gardolińska was born in Warsaw, Poland. Inspired by her experience in choral singing, she studied conducting at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw, the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna, and took part in numerous masterclasses and workshops with renowned artists such as Bernard Haitink, Peter Eötvös, Bertrand de Billy, György Kurtág and Marin Alsop.
In 2015, she was appointed Principal Conductor of the Akademischer Orchesterverein Wien, and held the position of Conductor and Artistic Director of the TU-Orchester Wien during the 2017–18 season. In October 2018, she became Young Associate Conductor at the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, a role which brought her international attention.
During the 2019–20 season, she joined the Los Angeles Philharmonic as part of the Dudamel Fellowship Program. Under the guidance of Gustavo Dudamel, she conducted acclaimed performances at Disney Hall, including Stravinsky’s The Rite of Spring, and recorded Ives’ Symphony No. 4 for Deutsche Grammophon.
In August 2019, she made her debut with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra at the Edinburgh Festival, followed by performances with the Orchestre de chambre de Paris in November 2020, and in her hometown with the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra in December 2020. In January 2021, she was appointed Music Director of the Opéra national de Lorraine for a three-year term.
Her recent engagements include appearances with the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse, the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, the Opéra national du Rhin, the Barcelona Symphony Orchestra, and the Tonkunstler Orchestra at the Musikverein in Vienna.
