A trained harpsichordist and flutist, Franco-American soprano Emilie Rose Bry pursued vocal studies at the CRR de Paris and at the Manhattan School of Music in New York, before joining the CNIPAL in Marseille in 2013.
Starting in 2014, she began performing as a soloist at the Opéra de Toulon and the Théâtre de l’Odéon in Marseille, later taking on the roles of Donna Elvira and Donna Anna (Don Giovanni, Mozart) in Paris. She then appeared as Clarice (Il Mondo della Luna, Haydn) at the Festival de Sédières, as Mrs. P. (L’homme qui prenait sa femme pour un chapeau, Nyman) with the Studio of the Opéra de Lyon, and performed the roles of Emilie and Zima (Les Indes Galantes, Rameau) with the Opéra-Studio of Genève.
She made her debut at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona in December 2017 as Amore/Valletto/Pallade (L’Incoronazione di Poppea), then performed as Frasquita (Carmen, Bizet) in Valladolid and at the Opéra Royal de Versailles. She went on to tour again with Ensemble Matheus as a soloist in Haendel’s Dixit Dominus and Vivaldi’s Gloria, performing at prestigious venues such as the Palau de la Música in Barcelona, the Opéra de Nantes-Angers, the Chapelle Royale in Versailles, and Les Grands Concerts in Lyon. She also gave a recital at the Festival de Paris, broadcast live on Mezzo and Arte Concert, and later performed as Elvira (L’Italiana in Algeri, Rossini) at the Opéra Royal de Versailles.
Since 2021, Emilie has sung more than 25 performances as Violetta (La Traviata, Verdi) in a production by Patrizia di Paolo with the company “Opera a Palazzo” in Paris. She also recently sang her very first Gilda (Rigoletto, Verdi) with the same company.
The 2023–24 season marked her debut as Micaëla (Carmen, Bizet), her participation in Karine Deshayes’ masterclass at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées with the Paris Opera Competition, several performances with the ensemble Les Lunaisiens (notably at the Cité de la Musique in Paris), a collaboration with conductor and flutist Alexis Kossenko, and concerts with Jean-François Zygel and the Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse at the Halle aux Grains.
In 2024–25, she returns in La Traviata, La Périchole, and Rigoletto. Notable highlights include the release of her debut recording of Bernard Cavanna’s Messe un jour ordinaire under the direction of Léo Warynski (nominated at the 2024 Victoires de la Musique Classique for “Best Recording”), the role of Janet in Frank Zappa’s opera 200 Motels – The Suites at the Opéra de Nice, the role of Agathe in Berlioz’s French version of Weber’s Der Freischütz, performances of Vivaldi arias at La Folle Journée in Nantes and the Via Aeterna Festival at Mont-Saint-Michel, Philippe Fénelon’s sublime Leçons de Ténèbres with the Opéra National du Capitole de Toulouse, and concerts at the Halle aux Grains with the Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse conducted by Hervé Niquet.
