Florentin Ginot is a graduate of the Paris Conservatoire, and was a laureate of the Fondation Banque Populaire and Mécénat Musical Société Générale. In 2020, he was named “Musical Revelation of the Year” by the Syndicat de la Critique. He is also the founder of HowNow, a production company that develops stage forms combining contemporary music with danse, theatre and circus.
Florentin Ginot is dedicated to opening up the boundaries of his instrument, not only as a remarkable soloist and leading performer of contemporary music, but also by initiating collaborations with artists of all genres and disciplines. He has established a new repertoire for his instrument, working closely with composers such as Georges Aperghis, Rebecca Saunders, György Kurtág and Helmut Lachenmann. He has appeared as soloist at the Berlin Philharmonie, the Cologne Philharmonic, the Cité de la Musique in Paris and the Auditori in Barcelona, as well as at the Berliner Festspiele, the Festival Présences and the Festival Manifeste in Paris, the Festival Musica in Strasbourg, Sacrum Profanum in Krakow, Ultima Oslo and the Venice Biennale.
The 2023-24 season includes his solo debut at the Philharmonie de Paris, with a live performance of his Bach-Biber project, as well as performances at Jazzdor Strasbourg and the Festival de Saint-Denis. He will present the world premiere of a new solo piece by Clara Ianotta in Florence and Cologne, and will perform a duo with electric guitarist Yaron Deutsch.
