This preview concert is an opportunity to discover five brilliant young soloists with already promising careers: Apolline Raï-Westphal, Louise Bourgeat-Roulleau, Jordan Mouaïssia, Léo Guillou-Keredan and Alexandre Adra, accompanied by musicians from the Il Caravaggio ensemble in a program around Charpentier, Lully and Lambert. The Studio lyrique is a program led by the Il Caravaggio ensemble and its conductor Camille Delaforge for eight opera singers that takes place over two years and aims to prepare young talents for a solo career in the fields of baroque and classical opera repertoire.

A talented cellist, Héloïse Luzzati created the association La Cité des Compositrices in 2020 and embarked on a colossal project dedicated to the rediscovery of forgotten female composers. Commissioned by the Festival de Saint-Denis, she has teamed up with pianist David Kadouch to tell the story of Fanny Mendelssohn’s life to children (and their parents!).

La Néréide offers us a program around music composed at the beginning of the 18th century for the use of young girls’ institutions where music and singing were an essential part of higher education. Mixing court airs and gallant airs, this program also looks at what made the hearts of these brilliant students beat!

An original program imagined by Quentin Guérillot and dedicated to the Italian music of Monteverdi imported into France on the occasion of the marriage of Henri IV with Marie de Medici.

Known for his bold approach to the repertoire and the great finesse of his playing, Alexandre Tharaud is one of the most talented pianists of his generation. Beyond his career as an international pianist, he has continued to collaborate with artists from very diverse backgrounds. The carte blanche that the Festival has offered him is part of this perspective. For this exceptional evening, Alexandre Tharaud will be accompanied by the Le Balcon orchestra, under the baton of Maxime Pascal, and three formidable guests.

Written in homage to his friend and rival Bellini, this work by Donizetti seduces with its diversity and intensity and anticipates Verdi’s Requiem with the dramatic force of its choral parts. A famous opera composer, Donizetti gives this Requiem a real pulse of life, putting into this sacred work all his tenderness towards his friend and his revolt against his death. This Requiem is conducted by Speranza Scappucci, an Italian conductor with great charisma and communicative energy, internationally renowned for her consistently remarkable interpretations of the lyrical and symphonic repertoire.

Marc-Olivier Dupin, composer, musician and former director of several prestigious cultural institutions, has imagined this original program inspired by Lewis Carroll’s masterpiece Alice in Wonderland. This choral singing project brings together 2 colleges from Plaine Commune accompanied on stage by an actor and musicians to bring Alice’s story to life.

This monument of German expressionist cinema is set in a gigantic futuristic city, divided into two classes: the elites who live in luxurious skyscrapers and the workers who toil underground in dehumanizing conditions. The film addresses powerful themes, such as class struggle, dehumanization by technology and the importance of mediation between the heart and the mind. Visually avant-garde, Metropolis is famous for its grandiose sets, innovative special effects and monumental architecture. It is today hailed as an influential visionary work in the science fiction genre and in cinema in general. The encounter between this masterpiece and the famous Cavaillé-Coll organ (designed in 1841) is an opportunity to rediscover Metropolis in a grandiose setting.

Anastasia Kobekina is a young Russian cellist of exceptional talent, who is now making her mark on the international scene, a virtuoso in both classical works and contemporary compositions.

Composed in 1724, this Passion is one of Bach’s most moving works, combining dramatic recitatives, poignant arias and powerful choruses. Through his balance of lyricism and spirituality, Bach takes the listener on a musical journey where each note and each silence reveals pain and compassion. It is the Polish conductor Marta Gardolińska, one of the most brilliant young conductors of today, with an international career, who will lead the Orchestre de chambre de Paris in this Passion, performed by leading soloists and the admirable Chœur de Chambre de Namur.

In partnership with the Department’s conservatories, in particular the CRR 93, but also some conservatories in Paris, ADO aims to encourage students aged 12 to 18 to develop their musical practice and discover the opera and ballet repertoire. Die Schuldigkeit des ersten Gebots is the first sacred drama written by Mozart. All of the composer’s talent is already found in this work, his enthusiasm for operatic writing and his love for the theatre. It is also a fine example of a bridge between baroque and classical music. One cannot help but be dazzled by the know-how and mastery in orchestral and vocal writing, truly astonishing for a boy barely eleven years old! At the head of the Ensemble Il Caravaggio that she founded, Camille Delaforge, also a harpsichordist, brings a fresh perspective to this historical repertoire.

This intimate recital of great poetry around the themes of love and nature marks the return of Sabine Devieilhe to the Saint-Denis Festival, accompanied by her accomplice Mathieu Pordoy on the piano.

L.E.J (Lucie, Elisa and Juliette) is a trio that brings together three singers and musicians who grew up on the same street in Saint-Denis and learned music together at the city’s Conservatory and then at the Maîtrise de Radio France. Lucie plays the sax and vocals. Elisa plays the drums and vocals. Juliette plays the cello, guitar, bass and backing vocals. These multi-instrumentalists play the score with six hands. Revealed to the general public thanks to their medleys of summer hits, they brilliantly mix pop, rap, classical and electro music, alternating between covers and original compositions.
