The Festival of All Voices!
For its 56th edition, the Festival de Saint-Denis is continuing its programme of major works from the repertoire performed by internationally renowned artists (Pretty Yende, Ludovic Tézier, Marie-Nicole Lemieux, Renaud Capuçon, Aziz Shokhakimov, Jérémie Rhorer, Sandrine Piau, Julien Chauvin, David Kadouch, Emiliano Gonzalez-Toro, Amandine Beyer, Thomas Dunford, etc.) and promising young artists (Axelle Fanyo, Sahy Ratia, Julie Roset, Florentin Ginot, Adèle Charvet, Paul Zientara, etc.) while opening up to other musical aesthetics, like this year with Souad Massi and Blick Bassy.
For the first time, you’ll be able to enjoy a series of concerts in the intimate and exceptional setting of the recently renovated upper choir of the Basilica, and above all the very first edition of a Festival within the Festival, aimed at small audiences and families in the setting of the Basilica and the Maison d’éducation de la Légion d’Honneur.
For several years now, the Basilica has been the setting for a number of performances that go beyond the traditional concert. We’re continuing in this direction with the staging of a concert in the Basilica (Haendel’s La Resurrezione on 13th June), as well as background projections for the Don Quixote evening on 27th June. At the Maison d’éducation de la Légion d’Honneur, Marina Chiche’s “musical one-off” as part of the Cultural Olympiad will also be directed by Hortense Belhôte.
Year after year, we also continue and expand our initiatives to raise awareness of music (concerts, meetings, lectures, music practice) among a very wide audience, from the youngest pupils to social groups, to whom a solidarity ticket office is now dedicated, not forgetting the many students in our area. Two of these projects – which have also been awarded the “Cultural Olympiad” label – are being presented on the Basilica‘s main stage: on 7th June, the Académie Divertimento (an orchestra of students from our conservatoires) and on 25th June, the amateur choir Diony’s Voice.
The Saint-Denis Festival is doing everything it can to ensure that 2024 also presents, alongside the very big sporting event that we are all waiting for, a season rich in music shared by as many people as possible, young and old!
