“Revelation conductor” at the 2023 Victoires de la musique awards and “Special Mention” at the 2019 Besançon International Competition, French conductor Victor Jacob is a regular guest with European and international orchestras. These include the Orchestre National de Montpellier, the Orchestre de l’Opéra Royal de Versailles, the Orchestre de l’Opéra de Rouen-Normandie, the Orchestre Symphonique de Mulhouse, the Orchestre de Picardie and the Vienna Tonkünstler Orchestra. He has also been invited to perform with the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio-France, the Orchestre Royal Philharmonique de Liège, the Orchestre National de Lyon, the Basel Chamber Orchestra, the Orchestre National de Belgique, the Orchestre National de Lille, the Orchestre National Avignon-Provence and the Orchestre du Capitole de Toulouse.
Regularly sharing the bill with international soloists (Katia Buniatishvilli, Michael Spyres, Gaëlle Arquez, Julie Fuchs, Lucienne Renaudin Vary and Edgar Moreau), he has also been invited to conduct the Simon Bolivar Orchestra in Venezuela, the Shenyang Symphony Orchestra in China and the Moscow State Philharmonia (МГСО).
On the Alpha label, he recorded baritone Florian Sempey’s latest album with the Orchestre National de Bordeaux, and conducted the Orchestre Symphonique de Mulhouse for an album by rock band Last Train. Very comfortable with mixing genres, he was entrusted with conducting La symphonie des jeux vidéo with the Orchestre de Marseille by the Chorégies d’Orange in 2022, and returned there for Fantasia with the Orchestre d’Avignon.
From 2019 to 2022, he was assistant conductor of the Orchestre Philharmonique Royal de Liège and Gergely Madaras, then of the Orchestre National de Lille with Alexandre Bloch.
A graduate of the Royal Academy of Music in London and the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Paris, he trained with Neil Thomson, Alain Altinoglu, Sian Edwards and Colin Metters, and received advice from Paavo and Kristjan Järvi, Leonid Grin, Marin Alsop, David Zinman, Lawrence Foster and Bernard Haitink.
