Born in Madagascar, Sahy Ratia entered the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique in Paris in 2014 as well as Opera Fuoco’s lyrical workshop, where he worked with David Stern as well as Véronique Gens and Naouri.
In June 2017, he obtained his DNSPM with unanimous acclaim. During the summer of 2018, he sang the role of Remendado (Carmen) with Opéra en plein air, in Paris, Vincennes and on tour in France. In December 2018, he sang the role of Facio (Fantasio by Offenbach) at the Opéra National de Montpellier, before understudying the role of Chapelou (Le Postillon de Lonjumeau) at the Opéra Comique. Then he returns to Nemorino at the Opéra d’Avignon in May 2019 to great acclaim. At the start of the 2019-2020 season, he sings the role of Goro (Madama Butterfly) at the Opéra National de Montpellier and takes part in a concert about the Années folles with the Palazetto Bru Zane in Venice. He then performed his first Pâris (La Belle Hélène at the Théâtre de Saint-Gall in Switzerland, and sang the tenor part in Rossini’s Petite Messe Solennelle with La Co(opéra)tive. During the 2021-2022 season, at the Opéra de Tours and the Atelier Lyriques de Tourcoing, he will sing the roles of Haroun (Djamileh by Bizet) and Kornélis (La Princesse jaune by Saint-Saëns), before recording Djamileh for the Palazzetto Bru Zane. He then sang the Duke of Mantua for the first time in a participatory version of Rigoletto at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées.
A loyal fan of the Opéra Comique, he gave several recitals there and returned to play the title role in Marc-Olivier Dupin’s Robert le Cochon. He was also Don José in an original and unusual Carmen Street at the Aren’Ice in Cergy-Pontoise, before taking part in the ‘Scène émergeante’ recital at thte Chorégies d’Orange and reuniting with Georges Brown at the Festival de Saint-Céré.
He began the 2022-2023 season with Cynire (Gluck’s Echo and Narcissus) at the Royal Opera of Versailles with Le Concert Spirituel, as well as the tenor part in Berlioz’s Lelio with Angers-Nantes Opéra and his debut at the Berlin State Opera in the role of Marzio (Matridate), conducted by Marc Minkowski. Then he was Anfinomo (Il Ritorno d’Ulisse in Patria) in Geneva and sang his first Tonio (La Fille du regiment) at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, conducted by Hervé Niquet.
Finally, he took on Ali (Zémir et Azor by Grétry) at the Opéra Comique and Gilbert (Lucia di Lammermoor) at the Aix-en-Provence Festival.
His projects include Marzio again at the Berlin State Opera for the revival of Mitridate, and Pedrillo (Die Entführung aus dem Serail) at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées with Le Concert de la Loge, Mercure (Orpheus in the Underworld) at the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg under the baton of Marc Minkowski, then the Fisherman (Stravinsky’s The Nightingale) and the Parisian journalist/Monsieur Lacouf (The Breasts of Tiresias) in Nice.
He will also appear as Ruodi (William Tell) at the Lausanne Opera, and as the Chevalier de la Force (Dialogues of the Carmelites) at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Olivier Py’s production, conducted by François-Xavier Roth, before playing Séraphin (La Giuditta by Lehar) at the Opéra national du Rhin.
