Originally from Normandy, Sabine Devieilhe initially studied the cello before entering the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique in Paris to study voice. Her repertoire ranges from Baroque music to contemporary works. Shortly after completing her studies, she was invited to the Aix-en-Provence Festival to perform as Serpetta (La finta giardiniera) and made her debut as the Queen of the Night (The Magic Flute) in Lyon. Since then, she has appeared on major international opera stages, including the Opéra national de Paris, the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, La Monnaie in Brussels, the Vienna State Opera, Zurich Opera, La Scala in Milan, the Royal Opera House in London, the Bavarian State Opera in Munich, as well as at renowned festivals such as Glyndebourne and Salzburg.
In concert, she has performed with the Berlin Philharmonic, the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, the Bavarian State Orchestra, the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestre de Paris, Les Siècles, and Ensemble Pygmalion under the baton of Daniel Harding, Pablo Heras-Casado, Vladimir Jurowski, Klaus Mäkelä, Raphaël Pichon, Sir Simon Rattle, François-Xavier Roth, and Esa-Pekka Salonen. In recital, Sabine Devieilhe frequently appears alongside pianist Mathieu Pordoy.
An exclusive artist with Erato/Warner Classics since 2012, her discography includes Mozart & the Weber Sisters with Ensemble Pygmalion and Raphaël Pichon, Mirages with Les Siècles, Chanson d’amour with Alexandre Tharaud, and Mozart – Strauss with Mathieu Pordoy (2024).
During the 2024–2025 season, she will notably perform the roles of Sophie (Der Rosenkavalier) in Milan and Vienna, and Zdenka (Arabella) in Vienna.
Sabine Devieilhe performed at the Saint-Denis Festival in 2015 in Mozart’s Great Mass in C minor, with Ensemble Pygmalion conducted by Raphaël Pichon.
