Damien Schoëvaërt-Brossault was born in Paris in 1946 to engraving artists. After studying biology, he became a researcher at the University of Paris Sud, where he taught embryology and micro-anatomy. In 1981, he founded the Théâtre au Clair de Lune, creating paper shows and pop-up books accompanied by the musical ensemble Carpe Diem.
