Camélia Jordana was just 16 years old when she auditioned at the Marseille casting for the television talent show La Nouvelle Star. The judges — Philippe Manœuvre, André Manoukian, Lio, and Sinclair — were won over, and she managed to reach the semi-finals. Eliminated on 2 June 2009, she received a call from Sony Music that very evening and signed a deal for an album a week later.
To bring her project to life, she collaborated notably with Mathieu Boogaerts and singer-songwriter Babx. The album, simply titled Camélia Jordana, was released on 29 March 2010, with Non non non as the lead single. Upon release, the album reached number 9 on the charts and quickly went platinum, selling nearly 120,000 copies.
In 2012, she made her first steps in cinema with the film La Stratégie de la poussette by Clément Michel. In 2013, she starred alongside Daniel Prévost in the TV film Les Mauvaises Têtes and played the role of Laïla in Pascale Ferran’s upcoming film, released in 2014. While awaiting her next album, she could be heard singing duets, notably on Babx’s single Je ne t’ai jamais aimé — an exercise that seems to suit her perfectly, and one she had already taken on with artists such as Alex Beaupain, Alain Chamfort, and André Manoukian.
On 8 February 2019, she won the Victoires de la Musique award for World Music Album of the Year for Lost.
In February 2021, she was nominated for a César Award for Best Actress for her role in Les Choses qu’on dit, les choses qu’on fait.
In 2024, she appears on Tunisian-American singer Emel Mathlouthi’s album MRA, contributing to the track Mazel.
