soprano
First prize winner of the Operalia competition in 2023 and of the Metropolitan Opera of New York’s Laffont competition in 2022, soprano Julie Roset has rapidly made a name for herself as one of the finest coloratura sopranos of her generation. Her recent performance of Zémire (Zémire et Azor) at the Opéra Comique was a huge success with the critics, including Le Figaro, who wrote that “the young soprano catches the light with her singing that is as natural as it is intelligent.”
Highlights of Julie Roset’s 2023/24 season included her Paris Opera debut as Love (Médée) in the new production created by David McVicar and conducted by William Christie; a European concert tour of Mendelssohn’s Elijah with Ensemble Pygmalion and Raphaël Pichon; a programme of baroque arias entitled Elemental with the Twelfth Night ensemble at Carnegie Hall; and a staged version of The Creation at the Opéra national de Lorraine conducted by Marta Gardolińska.
Julie Roset is making her mark on the operatic scene, having appeared at the Aix-en-Provence Festival as Valletto and Amore in L’incoronazione di Poppea conducted by Leonardo García Alarcón, and made her debut at the Teatro Real as Euridice and La Musica in Sasha Waltz & Guests’ acclaimed production of L’Orfeo; and at the Opéra national du Rhin as Amore in L’incoronazione di Poppea conducted by Raphaël Pichon.
Julie Roset made her debut at the Festival de Saint-Denis in 2023 with Haendel’s The Creation, conducted by Julien Chauvin/Le Concert de la Loge and in Pasión Argentina, conducted by Leonardo García Alarcón/Cappella Mediterranea.
