Saint-Denis, February 13, 2025
Alice Rascoussier, Chair of the Board of Directors of the Festival de Saint-Denis, announces the appointment of Nicolas Candoni as its new General Director.
With a rich 56-year history, the Festival combines classical music and architectural heritage in the heart of a popular territory in constant movement and the Basilica Cathedral of Saint-Denis, the first Gothic building. Every June, the Festival de Saint-Denis offers a demanding program mixing classical masterpieces and contemporary creations, performed by international and emerging artists.
Under the direction of Nicolas Candoni, the Festival will continue to honor this tradition while exploring new artistic perspectives. Currently head of the music office at the City of Paris, Nicolas Candoni has been passionate about music since his youngest age. Trained in the violin at the Conservatoire à rayonnement régional de Cergy-Pontoise, he has had a rich career in the public and cultural sectors. In Paris, he has accompanied prestigious musical institutions such as the Théâtre du Châtelet and the Philharmonie de Paris, while organizing major cultural events. He is also a member of the board of the music and musicology department at Sorbonne University.
“We are pleased to welcome Nicolas Candoni as the director of the Festival. His commitment and ambitious artistic vision are assets to write a new page in our history. We have every confidence in his ability to combine musical excellence and openness to the diverse audiences that bring our region to life.”
