For nearly half a century, the Orchestre de chambre de Paris has established itself as a chamber orchestra of excellence and a reference point in Europe. Since the 2024–2025 season, it has been led by its music director, conductor Thomas Hengelbrock.
The Orchestre de chambre de Paris embraces a vast chamber orchestra repertoire ranging from the 17th century to the present day, with over a hundred premieres to its credit. Its musicians revisit the interpretation of classical works, notably through collaborations with conductors from the baroque world or with soloists who lead the orchestra in a play-direct format. They are equally committed to music from the Romantic, Modern and Contemporary periods, spanning the 19th, 20th and 21st centuries.
The orchestra shines in Paris and its surrounding region, performing concerts at the Philharmonie de Paris—where it is in residence—as well as at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, the Opéra-Comique, the Théâtre du Châtelet and Salle Cortot.
Over the course of its performances, the Orchestre de chambre de Paris collaborates with renowned conductors such as Giovanni Antonini, Tabita Berglund, Maxim Emelyanychev, Thomas Dausgaard, Daniel Harding, Trevor Pinnock, Speranza Scappucci, Masaaki Suzuki, Gábor Takács-Nagy, and with soloists including David Fray, Alban Gerhardt, Steven Isserlis, Pekka Kuusisto, Marie-Nicole Lemieux, Elisabeth Leonskaja, Roger Muraro, Laurent Naouri, Emmanuel Pahud, Marina Rebeka, Lise de la Salle, Tanja and Christian Tetzlaff, Carolin Widmann… Alongside this activity, the orchestra regularly performs at festivals and on international tours.
As an engaged cultural player in the city, the orchestra is recognised for its civic-minded approach, aimed at reaching all audiences. As part of its commitment to young musicians, it has developed a play-direct academy, an academy for young women composers, and an orchestral academy for students of the Conservatoire de Paris.
The Orchestre de chambre de Paris, designated as a National Orchestra in the region, gratefully acknowledges the support of the French Ministry of Culture (Drac Île-de-France), the City of Paris, as well as its corporate partners and private donors from the accompagnato circle for their contributions.
The Orchestre de chambre de Paris performed at the Festival de Saint-Denis in 2017 with Rossini’s Stabat Mater, conducted by Daniel Rustoni, and in 2018 for a special concert dedicated to Mozart, under the baton of Rinaldo Alessandrini.
