Founded in 1976 on the initiative of Daniel Barenboim, the Chorus of the Orchestre de Paris has been successively led by Arthur Oldham (1976–2002), Didier Bouture and Geoffroy Jourdain (2002–2010), Lionel Sow (2011–2021), and Marc Korovitch and Ingrid Roose (2021–2023). Since 2023, Richard Wilberforce has taken over as chorus master, continuing the outstanding work carried out over the years.
The Chorus is made up of amateur singers with a high level of vocal ability. Primarily associated with the Orchestre de Paris, it also collaborates regularly with other symphonic ensembles, both in Paris, across France, and abroad. The Chorus strives for continual development and artistic excellence.
The Chorus of the Orchestre de Paris performed at the Saint-Denis Festival in 2022 in Poulenc’s Stabat Mater, conducted by Alexandre Bloch with the Orchestre National de Lille, and in 2024 in Brahms’s German Requiem, conducted by Aziz Shokhakimov with the Orchestre national d’Île-de-France.
