Rufus Wainwright spent two hours in the Basilica last June; the result is his “Mother” programme, specially designed for the Basilica and made up of pieces from his personal and family repertoire (Loudon Wainwright and Kate McGarrigle), covers (Mother – John Lennon, Dans les yeux de ma mère – Arno) and many more surprises…

Alongside his sister Martha, the amazing singer-songwriter who grew up in a family of musicians in Montréal undoubtedly offers one of the most moving concerts in this edition of the Festival.

Basilique de Saint-Denis

The royal Basilica of Saint-Denis used to be the church of a prosperous, powerful abbey in the Middle Ages, and was the first monumental masterpiece of Gothic art. The royal necropolis houses the tombs of the Kings of France, and boasts remarkable funeral sculptures from the 12th century to the 16th century (Dagobert, Pepin the Short, Francis I, Catherine de’ Medici…)

Public Transport

  stop at Saint-Denis Basilique – follow signs for “centre-ville” pedestrian exit

Driving

Take the Autoroute A1 and the exit “Saint-Denis / Stade de France” – follow sign to the “centre ville”.
Be warned that the city centre is a pedestrian zone. We invite you to take advantage of public transport options.
