MAHLER SYMPHONIE N°2 « RÉSURRECTION »
Myung-Whun Chung is back in Saint-Denis!
And he’s here to perform one of the Festival de Saint-Denis’ most emblematic pieces, Mahler’s Second Symphony, the most monumental of them all. The composer intended it as a reflection on life and death, ending with a triumphant resurrection.
No doubt Maestro Chung, who finds the Basilica so inspiring, will succeed in sharing Mahler’s metaphysical and deeply moving vision with us, as one of the great modern-day specialists in this composer’s work.

The royal Basilica of Saint-Denis used to be the church of a prosperous, powerful abbey in the Middle Ages, and was the first monumental masterpiece of Gothic art.
