DEBUSSY THE SEA
BRYCE DESSNER ST CAROLYN BY THE SEA
RICHARD REED PARRY & BRYCE DESSNER WAVE MOVEMENTS (french creation)
The sea, with its infinite nuances of colours, the play of waves, the sounds of the wind, is an inexhaustible source of inspiration. In the early 20th century it was Debussy, and today it’s Bryce Dessner, sought-after composer of the new American school, inheritor not only of Steve Reich and Philip Glass but also of Bartók and Britten.
Bryce Dessner and Richard Reed Parry, guitar players of, respectively, The National and Arcade Fire bands, came together to sign Wave. Alongside images from creator Hiroshi Sugimoto projected in real time on the Basilica vaults, Bryce Dessner invites Lisa Hannigan, Irish folk singer, her brother Aaron, and Stargaze creator and conductor André de Ridder.
