BRUCKNER SYMPHONY N°7
BRAHMS 4 SONGS OP. 17
For the opening of the Festival, one of Bruckner’s most beautiful symphonies, a veritable sound cathedral, is conducted by Mikko Franck, the music director of the Philharmonic of Radio France, in a style that is ample and precise.
A vocal cycle of Brahms Lieder interpreted by the voices of the Maîtrise provides the complement to this orchestral monument: four romantic songs for choir, harp and horns of an infinite poetry and spirituality.

The royal Basilica of Saint-Denis used to be the church of a prosperous, powerful abbey in the Middle Ages, and was the first monumental masterpiece of Gothic art. The royal necropolis houses the tombs of the Kings of France, and boasts remarkable funeral sculptures from the 12th century to the 16th century (Dagobert, Pepin the Short, Francis I, Catherine de’ Medici…)
